During our busy lives, it can be easy to put ourselves on the back burner and prioritize others’ needs above our own. Your kids, your husband, your job…but self-care is critical for our overall well-being and happiness. One way to prioritize self-care is by scheduling joy into your weekly routine.
Our students schedule joy into their lives by adding a dance class into their week, to make sure they take time for themselves. A chance to get away from the craziness…while they experience joy in their lives, they also move their body, helping the connection between mind, body and soul.
You can also start by setting aside time for self-love, pursuing a hobby or favorite activity, starting a new activity, or simply taking some time to relax and recharge. Making joy a priority in your schedule helps combat stress and improves both your physical and mental health.
So go ahead, treat yourself – you deserve it! Remember, you are worth investing in and taking care of. Can’t afford an hour…well, that’s a whole other problem…but, for now, take 10 minutes. Even if it means getting up 10 minutes earlier than your family. Enjoy that solo cup of coffee by yourself. A few minutes of silence…
